The Crowne Plaza is located on the beautiful Detroit Riverfront across from Cobo Hall and Hart Plaza. The hotel opened in 1965 as the Pontchartrain Hotel, named after the first European settlement on the Detroit River, the French Fort Ponchartrain founded by Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac in 1701.
