Today Prof. Min Yu gave us an excellent and touching talk on the education of migrant children against the theoretical framework of migration. She argues that the offering good education to these underprivileged children will eventually contribute to the overall good of our increasing urbanized society. She explained to us what caused the status quo of the group of students she is interested in and once taught. And then we watched the documentary Detroit 48020which depicts the housing politics of Detroit from the eye of a postman Wendell, shortly before his retirement and losing his house without any equity. Once again, we were forced to think about the downside of the gentrification of Detroit.
