If I were to wake up as a man, I would hate it but also love it. Being a man seems gross. But being a man also equals more rights and bodily autonomy. If I became a man, I think a typical day would look like: waking up, having a BRIEF bathroom break, getting dressed, etc. It wouldn’t take me as long to get dressed because I wouldn’t do my makeup. Brushing my hair wouldn’t take as long considering I wouldn’t have to brush the long hair I have now.

After I got ready, I would walk to class. But I would probably get there faster—men are naturally taller than women (I may be taller, and have long legs). After class, I would go to the dining hall to get some lunch. It wouldn’t matter how much I got to eat since I am a boy. Although boys do get body shamed, it’s not to the same extent as a woman. I would feel comfortable eating in public, and I wouldn’t think anything of it. After that, I would go to my next class. Again, I would most likely get there pretty quick since I have longer legs. When it comes to interacting in my classes, I would probably be more sociable. I think I would talk more because it doesn’t matter if I say something wrong since I’m here to learn, but for women, they may decide to be quiet in class because they don’t want to be wrong and face embarrassment.

I think if I were a man, my dream choices would be different. For example, if I were a man, I would probably major in Broadcast Journalism. In reality, I am a journalism major (print and online), not broadcast. I think if I were a man I would do broadcast journalism because people will make less fun of you. You won’t get made fun of for what you look like as much.

Aside from that, I think that if I were a man, I would be respected. There are people that respect me, but I don’t think I’ve met anyone that thinks I’m worth respecting. What I mean by this is; when people first meet me, I don’t think they feel the need to respect me. In my opinion, I think paying respect to someone you just met is necessary. You’ve never met them before. Maybe they’ve done great things. Or maybe they’ve done bad. Nonetheless, I will owe someone respect. But I know not everyone feels this way, and even if they did, not everyone would respect me because of my gender.
