Growing up, I was placed into a poverty environment where my family was raised with not very much money. However, we still made the most of our time multiple kids will come out on the block we would always ride our bikes or go get ice cream or have cake. I remember walking on the street and always seeing a homeless person on the side of the road that would ask us for money that always made me feel like there should’ve been more in life than what was presented with. I grew up to be the only child, so I was never really surrounded around too many kids. I usually ride my bike with my grandparents in Southfield Michigan which brought our bond closer over the years.II only got to hang out with kids with I ever have went to my grandma‘s house.
my favorite spark, growing up was always at Belle Isle or the downtown Riverwalk, where I can always sit back and watch the waves and imagine life, as if it was a flowing obstacle of surrender with less torture I say torture, because not being able to always financially be able to survive situations, depression, and other things very hard when my friends got to go on trips for vacations, I always had to be left behind because our family couldn’t afford it, which was OK because my mom always made the best of things, as I continue getting older, my mom open her own business at a cosmetics parlor, where she does hair, make up lash extensions, and more eventually gave us some more foundation where we became a part of the middle class, which is where we were able to start taking minimum trips, and begin not having to worry about where we were going to eat the next day day.
I will say growing up with less money Definitely taught me the importance of how to be thankful for the things that you have even when it’s not the things that you want. This will always be a substantial steal because even when I do have money it will be a great idea tactic for saving money. It was always hard watching my parents work all day long my dad didn’t get back home until 2am and my mom worked until 11pm. Being at home alone always made me feel guilty watching them provide a household where I don’t get to assist but live in it and eat their food while they struggle to purchase it.
My family could always afford to have clothes on our backs and we’re never homeless but the environment I grew up in was never very safe to be outside alone there were always gunshots and the loss of family and friends which was one of the most emotional troubles displayed growing up us as kids always grew up being told to be careful of the police, never be outside alone , and never be outside after 1am if you don’t need to be. Growing up in Detroit there was always trash on the streets and weather changes that definitely impacted the price of clothing changing from season to season as I continued growing up. My least favorite spots were the liquor stores because there was always older men that would say very disrespectful and vulgar things about what they wanted from me and my mom leaving us never feeling very safe.
