I believe that the American Dream means that everyone has an equal opportunity to achieve great success through working hard and being determined to do so. It doesn’t matter where you were born or what social class you were born into, any individual can have success in society through opportunities by moving upward in social class. It is said to be possible for everyone. That may be the case back in the day, but today not everyone has the opportunity to move forward and upwards.

I think this dream does exist, but it is definitely not an equal opportunity for everyone. The main people who will achieve this goal will be white males working hard. Other people, like African Americans, women, gays, Asian American, will have a harder and more difficult time to achieve this goal even though they work twice as hard as white males. They may be able to achieve it, but it will not be equal to how the white male population achieves it. There will be many hurdles for the minorities while trying to achieve it.

For me, to fulfil the American Dream, it is to finish school and get a job. I will graduate with my bachelor’s degree, and I will get an entry level job. From there, I will have to move up in the job rankings, until I am at the top of the field that I am in. That is how I will fulfil the American Dream. I think it still exists today, even when it was made way back then, it is just different. Like I said, certain people cannot achieve this American Dream. For example, I have a lower-class friend, and they have far more obstacles compared to me since they are in a different social class.

The American Dream is supposed to be EQUAL opportunities, but that is not true today. Lower social class individuals do not get the same opportunities as high social class individuals. I don’t believe it was really ever true back in the day either. Minorites could make their way up to success, but it was much more difficult than the average male. Overall, I think that there is an American Dream, but the definition of it is not true. I’m not sure if something replaced it or not. I don’t think anything replaced the American Dream, it’s just not as talked about and prominent today. I feel as though this is because it is very rare that someone from a lower class actually receives that American Dream.
