If I was a man, man I would have so much more time! I would spend less time doing my hair, makeup, getting ready in general would be a time saver. I think that I would stress less, I feel that guys have a good way of staying levelheaded, I’ve observes in some  situations men can see more clearly and through a women’s eye it can feel like the world is crumbling around us. I would love to be much more decisive if I was a man, also apparently, I wouldn’t need a GPS because men swear, they can get anywhere on their own.

On a more serious note I think that I’d be unfairly but also in this world naturally further in life. I say that because typically  men get paid more, are the first to get offered the promotion first, they’re see as a natural leader and  depended on. I feel that men are granted more respect immediately and women have to prove something to earn it, I just feel that they had the upper hand for being born with a different chromosome than me.

I listen to Taylor Swift and I wouldn’t be surprised if this reference is scattered around a few responses to this prompt; however, Taylor  has a song called “The Man” I think the song as a whole pretty much does a good job of hitting a nail on the head, the bridge of the song is written as  “what’s it like to brag about raking in dollars, and getting bitches and models, and it’s all good if your bad and its okay if you’re mad. If I was out flashing my dollars id be a bitch not a baller, they paint me out to be bad so it’s okay that I’m mad.” The principals that Taylors singing about is that men are seen as achievers, winners, a boss, as THE MAN  and women are labeled as calculated, manipulators, many other adjectives to negatively define women and for no reason at all, or at least one that I can’t understand.

It’s frustrating because just like Taylor said, “If I was a man, then I’d be the man.” It is such a valid statement in my opinion,  many of the responses I get when I achieve accomplishments are along the lines of “congrats, what’s the next step?” whereas my brothers get a different reaction of “Congrats, you must be so proud of yourself, I bet you put in hard work”. My parents are the only ones who give an unbiased response, I feel that me and my brothers are a social experiment because were all similar in age I’m a female and they are 2 males and it’s easy for me to notice the differences because women tend to be the ones treated differently, my brothers are sometimes reluctant to see their privilege as being a white man in America btu I think society as a whole may be closer to seeing a perspective from a women’s eye. Productions like the Barbie movie support viewing through a feminine lens and today it is still mocked buy…. surprise men. I’m not sure what’s so hard to understand, as it is a day to day for me and many others but to the ignorant, biased, and close-minded it’s material for mockery and suppression of women.
