The last meal that I ate was breakfast this morning. I had a breakfast burrito, yogurt and coffee. I didn’t make the burrito myself but I bought it prepacked from the store. I had it at the desk in my dorm room while getting ready for the day. I did my makeup and listed to a podcast while I ate. I ate with plastic silverware because that is all that we have in the dorm right now (don’t worry we wash and reuse all our plastic silverware. I ate alone, but my roommate was in the dorm with me. I ate very quickly as I thought I was going to be late for this class.

I chewed very quickly as was doing a lot while I ate in preparation for the day. Although I would consider myself like middle class in relation to my parents and their lifestyle, I think that my eating habits in college indicate that I am more in the lower working class. I work a low paying job and all my money I make goes into my education or taking care of myself at college while I’m away from home. I don’t have a lot of extra spending money because of this so I’m not able to live as comfortably as I did back home. I think this a pretty common experience for many college students as many rely simply on their own income while in college and budgeting can be a hard concept to grasp when you are young and have so much freedom. I will say that I am more fortunate than most as I do have money to buy groceries and eat well balanced meals with the proper nutrients I need to thrive.
