I would say my personal class is in the underclass. My family’s social class is middle class. I’ve met several people in higher social classes than me from the jobs I’ve taken. I’ve worked/visited several countries clubs around the area. It depends on the people. I’ve worked with a kid who clearly had a silver spoon in his mouth. He was very book smart but common sense was lacking by a lot. He didn’t understand how to clean or know how to assemble things together but my friends and I who are middle and low class had no problem. It was jarring.

I think it made him feel like he was in an entirely different environment. He always felt left out of the group cause he could never relate to any of us. I do remember seeing him and his friends one day outside of work and you could tell both him and his friends had money to throw around. He felt like he was in the right space. It was interesting to watch but it doesn’t change the fact that he doesn’t know how to clean a toilet. Meeting older adults with a higher class was far more intimidating. It felt like they could get me fired over any move I make. Surprisingly, most of them were fairly nice and I got along with them well. But at the end of the day they’re the ones who get to ride off in their fancy cars while I’m stuck here cleaning tables.

I have a family member that had a lower social class than I was. I was too little to understand that at the time because I never gave it any thought. There usually weren’t any home cooked meals or we were by ourselves most of the day because their parents were always at work. Never eating a proper meal and always unsupervised.
