I would describe my social class as middle class. While I am white, AMAB, and come from a upper-middle class household, i am transgender and homosexual. These factors play a big role in how people view me and how i view people. Income, family background, education, attitudes, aspirations and appearance play a role in ascribing a particular social class by giving people context clues and form assumptions about people’s background and people’s social class.

For instance, i was recently in texas on tour and went into a large gas station. Almost immediately i noticed that most of the people inside the store were staring at me. This is easily explained by my appearance but it is hard to deny that at least a portion of the people staring at me were forming assumptions about my social class.

When i meet someone from a higher social class, i feel a bit annoyed, angered, or frustrated. I do not feel jealous of them but i feel anger and frustration in the way people display this wealth.
