The AAUP-AFT Local 6075 are the 1900 Faculty and Academic Staff working at least 50% time at Wayne State University. It is jointly affiliated with the American Association of University Professors and the American Federation of Teachers.
WSU Commission on the Status of Women (COSW)
The Commission on the Status of Women (COSW) advises Wayne State University’s Office of the President and the larger campus community on issues facing women students, staff, faculty, and alumni including gender equity and equality, social justice, and intersectionality. The Commission advocates for women through programming, university service, outreach, research, and policy recommendations.

WSU-GEARS Family Advocacy Network (FANs)
The WSU-GEARS Family Advocacy Network (FANs) supports faculty in navigating the complexities of work/family/life balance. Starting in Winter 2022, faculty will be invited to meet with Faculty Family Advisors to discuss family leave, caregiver support, tenure clock extensions, and other aspects of managing work/family/life strains.

Wayne State University Academic Leadership Academy
The Office of the Provost has created the Wayne State University Academic Leadership Academy (ALA) to support the development of the leadership skills and capacity of WSU faculty and academic staff.
National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD)
Wayne State University is a proud institutional member of The National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD). The NCFDD is an independent professional development center that is 100% dedicated to helping faculty make successful transitions throughout their careers. They work with colleges, universities, organizations, and individuals to ensure faculty success. Their programs and services help faculty to increase writing productivity, establish and maintain work-life balance, create broad networks of collegial support on their campus, and develop a committed stance towards their institutional home. Over the course of this eight-month program, participants will meet with a next-level leader a minimum of four times to:

WSU Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) System
The Wayne State University Police Department (WSUPD) offers training in Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) Systems throughout the year for members of the university community. This interactive training provides a number of helpful self-defense techniques to protect women and men in the event of an attack.

Wayne Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (WISTEM)
The goal of WISTEM is to provide women working in STEM fields on campus opportunities to network, to learn more about the projects that other women in STEM at WSU are working on, to possibly set up new collaborations, to learn about career challenges that some of us may be experiencing, to provide and accept guidance and mentoring in an informal setting, and hopefully to have some fun too!

Women in Medicine and Science (WIMS)
The Women in Medicine and Science (WIMS) group at Wayne State University School of Medicine aims to advance women at all career levels within academic medicine and science by addressing gender equity, recruitment and retention, awards and recognition, work-life balance, and career advancement by actively engaging with all members of our community regardless of gender. WIMS hosts events open to all interested men and women faculty, staff and students within academic medicine and science to help achieve these goals.
The WSU College of Engineering Women in Engineering Executive Leadership Society brings together College of Engineering women alumni from diverse backgrounds with a common goal: to empower women student engineers at WSU College of Engineering. It is the intention of the Leadership Society to build enthusiasm for women in the engineering, engineering technology, and computer science professions to help our community and beyond. The WSU Black Faculty & Staff Association aims to create a sense of community by serving as an organized support network to help members navigate the university system while providing a platform to express their thoughts, concerns, needs and contributions to support the overall mission of the institution.
Latinx Faculty and Staff Association (LFSA)
Latinx Faculty and Staff Association (LFSA) consists of self-identified Latino/a/x faculty and staff at Wayne State University. Our presence enriches the university because of our contributions and our commitment to the intellectual and community life at Wayne State and the greater Detroit area. The mission of the LatinX Faculty & Staff Association is to build an inclusive community and provide support for Wayne State’s Latina/o/x faculty, staff and students across all levels and across the entire campus community.
Queer Faculty and Staff Organization
The Queer Faculty and Staff Organization (QWSU) aids to create spaces and programming for LGBTQIA+ folks working at Wayne State University by tackling concerns and being a voice for all queer initiatives on campus. All are welcome to attend our events, regardless of identity.
Wayne State University Association of Chinese Faculty and Staff (WSU-ACFS)
ACFS, founded on April 10, 2021, is open to Wayne State University faculty and staff of Chinese heritage and their allies, regardless of their country of origin or citizenship.
WSU-AFCS is a non-profit and non-political organization. It aims to promote interests and collaborations among its members; to exchange ideas of how to thrive at Wayne State University and how to excel as educators, researchers, and community contributors; to enhance communications among the Chinese community, University leadership, and other ethnic groups on campus; to serve as a support network to University missions and affairs, and to promote academic and cultural exchange among the Chinese community and other ally communities.
