About Mallak’s Research
I began at the lab in January 2025 as a coder for Jessica Elezi’s dissertation project, which examines parent-child relationships and their emotional regulation skills. I am interested in learning more about parenting styles and parental influence on children’s development. I also have a fascination for neuropsychology in connection to psychopathology in children and adolescents.
More about Mallak
Outside of research, I am interested in community engagement and religious practices in mental health. In my hometown, I work with the Amity Foundation in which I set up and attend fundraisers and events to help those less fortunate. I am also a part of a new mental health initiative through the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA). We hope to create a comprehensive resource database and website about coping strategies for mental health and further information on serious mental illnesses through an Islamic lens.
