Getting to Wayne State University

Located in Midtown Detroit, the university is conveniently placed near the Detroit Metro Airport (DTW) and is an approximately 20 min drive to Wayne State by car service (Uber or Lyft).

Parking

Parking Structure #2 is available for use ($9 per day; fee is waived if staying in on-campus housing).

Housing

All guests will be staying on the 9th and 10th floors of the Towers Residential Suites (655 W. Kirby St., Detroit, MI 48202). Room assignments will be provided to guests at least one week prior to the start of the meeting. See Towers Residential Suites on Google Maps or the Wayne State campus map.

Check-in

Check-in will be available in the University Towers lobby from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 13.

If you’ a’re arriving outside of that time window, please let us know (arun.anantharam@utoledo.edu) as soon as possible and provide your specific arrival time. We will need to make sure that the front desk is staffed so you can get into your room.

For those staying off-campus, please still use this check-in desk to collect your badge and confirm attendance/arrival. We will also have a check-in desk outside of the General Lectures building (Sunday talks) and in the McGregor Memorial Conference Center (Monday through Thursday).

Posters

For presenters, the boards will be approximately 60 inches (wide) by 40 inches (long). We have designated specific times for presentations on the schedule, but the posters can be left up for the duration of the meeting. An area for poster display has been set up on the second floor of the McGregor Memorial Conference Center.

Dining/food

Detroit has many fantastic restaurants. Some of these can be easily walked to from the conference venue within a 15-20 min walk.

Below are some other places with a great atmosphere and food. However, these may require a short Uber/Lyft ride.

The emergency number for the Wayne State Police is 313-577-2222. More at police.wayne.edu. Alternatively, one can simply call 911.
