Silvia Giorgini-Althoen

I am the Director of the Italian Language Courses and an Associate Professor of Teaching in Italian, in the Department of Classical, Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures.

My primary research interests are in Second Language Acquisition, Applied Linguistics, and Technology in the classroom.

My most recent research interests are in the study of folk and fairy tales, and the cultural and culinary history of Italy.

I am also the newsletter editor of the American Association of Teachers of Italian, the Director of the VoluntarItaly program for the Dante Alighieri Society – Michigan Chapter, and a Question Leader of the AP Italian Exam for the College Board.
