Ethnic Layers of Detroit received a $2,000 award from Wayne State’s Foreign Language Technology Center. The grant will allow the development of a pilot project of eight to twelve sites over the spring/summer semester of 2013.
The sites will be developed into a web portal with Geostoryteller software that will be accessible via the augmented reality app Layar. Funds will be used to hire student assistants to work on videos for the sites. In the fall, instructors will integrate the sites into the curriculum for current Classical and Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures courses.
